Projects
Some project highlights:
Working on
- Venture @ age1: Being a part of making healthy lifespan extension a reality.
- Research @ Wheeler Lab (Institute of Biomedical Engineering at UofT): Optoelectronic tweezers/manipulation and digital microfluidics for biology.
- Building community for longevity @ Longevity Research Circle: We host events and journal clubs for students interested in aging biology and regenerative medicine.
- Thinking about quantum mechanics in biology, a long-running area of fascination.
Worked on
Research:
- Organoids-on-a-chip @ Wrana Lab (Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute): Optimized device assembly and seeding, ran CFD simulations, 3D printed things, and looked at cells.
- Computational biology @ Loyal: Aging biology with dogs as a translational model. Helped out with data visualization, streamlining workflows, and the Healthspan Study.
- Quantum natural gradients: Ground-state energy calculations for small molecules using variational quantum eigensolvers. Wrote code and contributed to Pennylane’s research blog.
- QML for economics @ Bank of Canada’s Quantum Lab: Groundwork for the lab’s research direction including literature reviews, benchmarking, and industry collaborations.
Creative and community:
- Raised grants/sponsorships for many student organizations to help fund events and donated personal grants to help make things happen.
- Core team @ Quantum Open Source Foundation: Scaled the quantum mentorship program that still runs today. Also helped out with marketing and growth efforts.
- Growth and marketing @ Gamechanger.co: Innovation advisory for corporate companies. Also helped run the Gamechanger Session series, which grew into Disco.co, an edtech platform where I was involved with early product/brand design.
A footnote: I’m forever grateful to my mentors, especially those who opened the door when I had nothing to show.
